type='text'>What is AHP?</title><content type='html'>&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a methodology introduced by Saaty in 1980 for multiple choice criteria problems where there is feedback and interdependence among decision attributes and alternatives. It is an approach to decision making that involves structuring multiple choice criteria into a hierarchy, assessing the relative importance of these criteria, comparing alternatives for each criterion, and determining an overall ranking of the alternatives, as defined by Decision Support System (DSS) resources . The concept of AHP was developed, amongst other theories, by Thomas Saaty, an American mathematician working at the University of Pittsburgh. By organizing and assessing alternatives against a hierarchy of multifaceted objectives, AHP provides a proven, effective means to deal with complex decision making. Indeed, AHP allows a better, easier, and more efficient identification of selection of alternatives by criteria. The comparison is made by forming the ratio of the spread between the process specifications (the specification "width") to the spread of the process values, as measured by 6 process standard deviation units (the process "width").&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Process Capability Indices&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A process capability index uses both the process variability and the process specifications to determine whether the process is "capable" . We are often required to compare the output of a stable process with the process specifications and make a statement about how well the process meets specification. To do this we compare the natural variability of a stable process with the process specification limits. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A capable process is one where almost all the measurements fall inside the specification limits. Most capability indices estimates are valid only if the sample size used is 'large enough'. Large enough is generally thought to be about 50 independent data values. &lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Cp, Cpk, and Cpm statistics assume that the population of data values is normally distributed. This may require designing fixtures and implementing in manufacturing facility. · Manage quality improvement process and select and manage appropriate product standards and testing procedures.
